Giti Tire launches next generation GitiSportS2+ with ‘exemplary’ rating from AutoBild
Having been rated as ‘exemplary’ in the new AutoBild 2026 Summer Tyre Test, Giti Tire’s next generation ultra-high-performance Giti GitiSportS2+ has been launched with one of the highest independent commendations in Europe.
Ranked fourth overall, the leading German automobile magazine praised its ‘price-performance ratio, superb driving performance and high safety reserves.
Tested on a BMW 5 Series in size 245/45R19, the GitiSportS2+ was initially joint fourth from a field of 50 tyres based on braking performance in wet conditions from 80 km/h and dry conditions from 100 km/h with a total distance of 42.5m.
In the final 20 it continued to perform at the highest level across 12 further independent tests to take its place among a top five otherwise dominated by premium manufacturers.
Fabio Pecci-Boriani, Deputy General Manager for Product Planning PCR and LTR, Giti Tire R&D Centre (Europe), said: “The new GitiSportS2+ is testimony of the achievements that our engineers, testers and manufacturing facilities have been able to deliver in the area of performance while retaining the sustainability, endurance and mileage criteria that are important to the daily driver.
“To launch a tyre off the back of an ‘exemplary’ rating in AutoBild is nothing short of sensational, we are thrilled that one of the leading automobile titles in Europe has been able to validate and confirm our latest development and we are excited to share this news with our trusted customers.”
Available from Spring 2026, the GitiSportS2+ is initially available in 19 sizes with rims from 17-20”, section widths from 225-255 and series sizes from 35-55.
Aimed at sporty cars and powerful SUVs, a new specially designed compound sees braking distance on wet roads reduced by 8% and by 2% on dry roads compared with its predecessor, the GitiSportS2. The tyre achieves the maximum EU Wet Grip label rating of A.
“The target criteria for the GitiSportS2+ was to deliver further improvements in dynamic driving, enhanced control on wet roads with precise and exciting control on dry roads, all while maintaining the mileage and energy efficiency of the previous generation,” added Pecci.
“Sportiveness is at the heart of the tyre with a particularly stiff design that contributes to stability at high speeds as well as in cornering. The increased grip performance goes is more precise, firm, predictable and constant.”
In-line with all new Giti passenger car and SUV tyres, the GitiSportS2+ will carry the AdvanZtech EV Ready logo on its sidewall to signify their usage across internal combustion engine (ICE), mild and plug-in hybrid (MHEV and PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) vehicles.
Other sizes of the existing GitiSportS2 will remain available during the initial rollout phase, ensuring a high level of market coverage for the vast majority of the sport vehicle segment.
The GitiSportS2+ was developed at the European R&D Centre in Hannover, Germany and tested and finetuned on European tracks in UK and Spain. The project utilised Giti Tire’s AdvanZtech technology, the manufacturer’s globally integrated R&D system.
